Color Object Space
The application of color is one if the core skills and one of the most powerful tools for communication available to a designer. Color can convey meaning and mood and assist in wayfinding within a space. A lack of knowledge of cultural associations of color can lead to misinterpret information. The students of 2nd semester study color in an experimental way as well as theories of color. Practical exercises demonstrate through color deception the relativity of color. The project „color in motion“ invites to study the possibilities of optical illusions through rotating color coded discs in different speeds. By fixing them to a fast spinning ceiling fan or as a slow turning table top the visual informations are perceived differently. The project „after excitement“ asked the students to associate a shape to a chosen color and to create a family of monochrome colored shapes.
